Our Commitment to Environmental Sustainability:
Aware of the positive significance the hospitality industry can contribute to protecting our environment, we at the Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura work very hard on environmental sustainability. Recently, our San Jose Costa Rica eco-friendly hotel was rated as level 5 in Leaf Ranking to Certification for Sustainable Tourism.
We envision becoming tomorrow’s best San Jose Costa Rica Green Hotel for environmental sustainability. With our goal in mind, we focus on taking the following concrete actions to increase our positive impact:
- Bedding and towels are washed in cold water and bleach is replaced by ozone injection.
- All diesel cook tops in our kitchens have been replaced with gas burners.
- More than 90% of the lighting comes from LED bulbs, consuming very little energy.
- No chemical fertilizers are used in the garden since the hotel produces its own mulch.
- Utilizing acid-free white paper made of sugar cane, instead of tree fiber.
- Re-using the ink cartridges in printers with a strict recycling program.
- All furniture in the Tirrenia Mediterranean restaurant is built of FSC certified wood from sustainable plantings.
- Using organic ingredients in our restaurants.
- Increasing the amount of biodegradable cleaning products in kitchens.
- Our future projects include: Using solar panels to pre-heat water for all guest rooms and improved air conditioning units.
Orchid Green House and Organic Garden
As a San Jose Costa Rica eco-friendly hotel, we are proud to show our orchid collection, placed sporadically throughout our property. As our cherished guest, we welcome you to visit our Orchid Green House and Organic Garden located at the end of the Waterfall Pool, open from 6:00am- 2:00 pm.
